We’ve turned the clocks back and daylight saving is all but a memory. But as the temperature drops, cosy nights in are on the menu a little more often. And there’s none better than a movie night. Here are some of the films we’re queueing up – just add some fizz and friends.
Rom and Com
Anyone but You
If you’re up for a Hollywood romcom, the latest Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell flick is a fun love story that involves a bad date, a destination wedding, and all the will-they-won’t-they you can handle.
…And we give bonus points because it’s filmed in Australia. Watch trailer here.
For the Thinkers
Lost in Translation
While this cult classic by Sofia Coppola has been around a while, it’s a great film if you’re feeling something a little moody, a little obscure, or a little left of centre. Get to know Tokyo while Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson become unlikely friends… and ponder what it all means. Watch trailer here.
‘90s Gold
Clueless
If you know, you know. One of the classics of its era, Clueless is a fun, funny and sweet movie that’s perfect for a 90s flashback. Add some friends and some chilled bottles of Solara and you’ll be parroting your favourite lines in no time. Watch trailer here.
Full Fizz
Top Gun: Maverick
The sequel to the Tom Cruise classic from the ‘80s, it’s a tale of fighter pilots and all the high-octane action that goes with it. With character names like Maverick, Phoenix, Hammer and Payback… you know it’s going to be good. Watch trailer here.
Team with the Theme
The Great Gatsby (2012)
Based on the book from the 1920s, Baz Lurhmann has taken the riotous Gatsby story to flashy, bright and dramatic new heights. From the storyline to the sets, it’s hard to look away. And don’t forget to check out the glassware, the 1920s did sparkling right. Watch trailer here.
Till next time,
Team Solara.
