Summer is still in full swing, which means there’s still plenty of opportunities to live with fizz and make the most of sunny days, warm nights and longer stretches of daylight. One of our favourite activities for this time of year? The Prosecco Picnic.

Whether it’s a catch-up with friends, a summertime date or even a little you-time, now’s the perfect time to grab some of your favourite Solara, put together a kit that’s fit for the occasion and set yourself up to while away the day.

And if you need a hand prepping for your Prosecco Picnic? We’ve got you sorted.

First things first – the fizz

It’s called a Prosecco picnic for a reason – the most essential element of your day is enough Solara Prosecco to keep the good times going. With its fresh bouquet of citrus fruits and apples and its crisp, refreshing palate it’s the ideal companion for a picnic in the sunshine.

Remember to bring a cooler bag with ice packs so that your prosecco stays chilled to perfection, along with some reusable cups to drink out of. You might also want to pack an aperitif or two to make some picnic cocktails.

(Palate asking for something different? Our Chardonnay & Pinot Noir brings the fizz and the flavour too. We know prosecco wouldn’t mind sharing the picnic).

Next step – the grazing plate

No picnic is complete without a selection of delicious food to enjoy along with your fizz. Whether you’re keeping it simple or planning a full charcuterie spectacle, we’re always a fan of using locally-sourced, organic ingredients to graze on.

Prosecco pairs especially best with soft, creamy cheeses; so a brie, camembert or even a goat’s cheese is a great start. Prosecco and parmesan also make an iconic pairing if you’re after something with a bit more bite.

You can build out your board with a selection of cured meats, summer-ready fruits (like berries and grapes), plus olives and chutneys. Don’t forget the crackers or some sourdough, too.

Perfecting the picnic kit

The food and drink are sorted – but it’s the picnic essentials that really complete the experience. So along with enough cooler storage for your prosecco and food, don’t forget to bring the blanket, a basket containing reusable cups and tableware and more.

Don’t forget to bring SPF, insect repellent and garbage bags to take your rubbish with you, too. A portable Bluetooth speaker with a perfectly-curated playlist can also add to the magic.

If you need to start collecting items for your kit, we recommend Pelli Bags as a great place to start. They’ve got everything from sustainably-made cooler bags, to picnic blankets and cheese boards.

Speaking of places…

Choosing the perfect location for your prosecco picnic is a big deal. After all, you want to be in prime position when the prosecco first pops open. Here are some of our picks for spots around Australia that make for a great picnic base (and not just because they all allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages):

Sydney – The Royal Botanic Gardens provide beautiful flora, giant, shady trees and stunning views of Sydney Harbour.

Melbourne – Different Royal Botanic Gardens, same great atmosphere. Melbourne’s premier gardens are the picnic spot of choice, with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the day.

Brisbane – New Farm Park is just by the Brisbane River, with blooming jacaranda trees and space to spare.

Perth – Kings Park and Botanic Garden is one of the largest green spaces in the world – which means you’ll have plenty of room (and beautiful scenery) to enjoy your prosecco picnic. Just make sure you get a free permit before popping a bottle.

Adelaide – Botanic Park is filled with majestic trees, providing plenty of shade as you enjoy your day.

Canberra – Take the picnic lakeside and set yourself next to the waters of Lake Burley Griffin.

Great things happen when prosecco and picnics meet. Here’s to laying out the blanket and living with fizz all afternoon long.

Till next time,
Team Solara.
